Chevron’s new “We Agree” campaign was criticized as greenwashing before it even got off the ground. Protestors leapt into action to highlight the company’s responsibilities with its very own spoof campaign.
It’s the only Latin I know, and it’s been a common enough theme in my career if not in every designers… or maybe it’s just me.
Freebies for the good of the public have always had their place in my portfolio, you never know where it may lead. Perhaps a mention on some BBC documentary in 50 years time when Akira Records reflects back on it’s journey to the top of the music industry? More likely, a sorely visited blog hidden in the recesses of Oi’s website, but it’s a start.
Akira, meaning bright or intelligent, reflects the strap-line, which in turn defines the companies intent on exposing the best new talents and the most exciting music it can find.
A fun little personal project, I now sit back and await my turn to be interviewed on the original brand design of the multi-billion dollar record label in said future documentary.

Last year, Oi held a special charitable event, ‘The Oi Beach Ball’, and raised a staggering £20,000. Almost half this money was earmarked to send young Max (pictured with Oi Managing Director, Peter Grange) on a holiday of his lifetime.

Not to be confused with wetting your whistle on the award winning local brew above, or with island drinking culture for that matter. This is simply a collection of New Zealand’s finery in design.

Encouraging girls to play a predominantly male sport was never going to be easy. The brief: To create a non offensive Try Rugby poster for local schools that will recruit girls into the sport.
Reverting back to the basics of typography and symbolism this soon to be graffitied poster was the result.

I might be being hard on myself, but judging by the picture above it’s unlikely. Still, this is what they call an ‘unstable exit’ and is all part of the AFF training – I just took a little longer than ideal to regain stability. You can watch all the action here.
Thankfully I passed, and fortunately we don’t get grades at freefall university, so a pass is a pass! It’s another tick off the annual ‘year older, what have you done?’ personal log. It’s been a long time coming so I finally took a week off and headed to Madrid for a few days jumping. The plan was to become fully qualified, but with only 4 days and the last shut down with high winds, I’m still shy 4 or 5 jumps and a packing course but 14 jumps with 7 of them solo remains satisfying for now.
Not to worry, one of the pros is keen to have some skydiving tee designs done in exchange for free jumps and training. Then I’ll be free to continue my globe trotting adventures complete with aerial views at terminal velocity. Big thanks to all the expert instructors and packing crew that saved my life dozens of times at the drop zone.
Once you hop and pop, you can’t stop!
This unique pop-up brochure for 51 Buckingham Gate was Steph Brun’s latest work, and left for me to oversee it’s binding into life… and consequently take all the glory.
Steph’s challenge was to create a strong marketing piece, that would leave enough of an impression to capture it’s audience without the need to give it to anyone. Used for an international business-to-business speed dating event, the rules were simple, no leave behinds and just a few minutes with each client…

Do you know which UK brand this furry friend represents…the answer could be simples!?
