I love lamps. They’re great aren’t they? You need light…hey presto! there it is at the press of a button or flick of switch. Marvellous I’m sure you’ll all agree. You know what else I love? Ducks. Love em’, the little feathery bundles of joy. Especially when they’re served with pancakes, hoisin sauce and those strips of cucumber and spring onion. Delicious. I’ve often sat alone in the dark wishing I had my two loves smashed together into some horrendous Frankenstein’s monster; a terrifying conglomeration of feathers and shadow-casting light.

Well…thank God for artist Sebastian E then. Thanks Sebastian, my world is now complete.

A beautifully shot and (in a couple of the executions) beautifully post-produced campaign for Mammadaba Latvia State Forests by MOOZ. Simple and direct but the lush photography and the 3D / Photoshop work really sell the idea. Some are better than others (the RUSH one is my favourite) but even so, the headline is a winner…top stuff. See all after the break…

We all have to eat; you, me, fish, butterflies, birds etc. Well, monkeys have to eat too but therein lies the problem: just ‘what’ should they eat? As their lords and masters, we must defiantly force nature to take a back-seat and demand that these primates do as they’re told, eat what they’re told…and possibly even ‘wear’ what they’re told. But let’s not go down that road.

It’s unsurprising – in this world ruled by advertising campaigns for everything from scented nappies to sex toys that double as DIY tools for any tricky situation – that the human race is now hell bent on finding new and improved ways of getting other animals to buy into brands.

When is a chocolate website more than just a chocolate website? When it’s a chocolate website.

Sagres, Portugal’s leading beer brand, recently brewed a new product: Sagres Preta Chocolate, a chocolate flavoured stout beer. They then challenged their digital agency to come up with something equally as original to promote it. What they came up with is as close to genius as I can think of.

It has been said that if cats were able to do the things that humans could, then the mixture of this along with their intelligence, cunning, sense of superiority and aloofness would allow them to take over the world and we’d all be relegated to sleeping in the garden and doing tricks for the entertainment of our new feline masters.

So Coca-Cola is bad for you, is it? Well, there’s always a positive for every negative, now isn’t there? So some people may moan that it’s bad for your insides and rots your teeth…but on the flip side of the coin it is really good for ‘actually’ cleaning coins and it does marvels for getting rid of stains in your toilet as well. So, the prospect of legions of toothless kidz running amok on the streets with foul breath and bad digestion has definitely been wrapped in a comfy blanket with a tasteful silver lining there I think we’d all agree.

However, Coke isn’t resting on it’s laurels as purely a head-on competitor to Domestos, oh no…now they’re taking on the insidious and evil bits of chipboard and laquered steel all shoppers fear…that’s right, The Display Stand.

Read on to see some real environmental good being put into action by a company that most people would believe didn’t give a toss about the environment. Oh how they’ll all be regretting that belief…

Coca-Cola is developing a family of 100 percent recyclable merchandise display racks for use in grocery and convenience stores in the U.S. The first GIVE IT BACK ® racks are free-standing units made of easily recyclable corrugated cardboard and designed to communicate sustainability to shoppers.

The GIVE IT BACK racks are the first step toward a comprehensive, closed-loop retail equipment program where Coca-Cola creates recyclable in-store merchandise racks and then recovers, reuses and/or recycles the displays – an industry first.

So…everything’s right with the world again.

Hot Wheels…we all remember them, and if we don’t…then, umm…well, we don’t. We were probably doing something a lot more interesting with our day. I’d hazard a few guesses but one likes to keep things family friendly don’tcha’know? Anyway, here’s a little bit of loveliness from Oglivy & Mather on a Bogota motor-way in Colombia. Just came across this neat little bit of sculptural squidgyness. We all remember messing around with Play-Doh as kidz; hours spent amongst open tubs of various coloured (flavoured?) nonsense trying in vain to make a dinosaur but always ending up with something phallic instead of prehistoric. Well, General Motors have decided to go all touchy-feely for the marketing of their all new Chevrolet Orlando, and have opted to use 1.5 tons of Play-Doh to make us think of those Halcyon days when our parents screamed from the open bedroom doorway at the sight of our Triceratops that resembled something more usually found in the window of Ann Summers…

Utilising a rather unique guerrilla marketing campaign, General Motors kicked off the buzz for the Chevrolet Orlando in Europe, creating a full-scale model of the MPV in bright blue Play-Doh. Parked in a London street, the instillation weighs in at a staggering 1.5 tons and measures 15 feet long by almost six feet wide. The connection between Play-Doh and the Orlando? General Motors pinged 1,000 UK adults to find out their most popular toy of yesteryear. Play-Doh won with 19 percent of the vote.

Pretty awesome huh? Bet it smells bloody FABULOUS.

At least until a few strays have been at it.

Is there any better way to feel warmed on a blisteringly cold early morning, than to be confronted by the sight of some hot buns huddled in a bus shelter? Of course there isn’t…it was a rhetorical question…

These installations for Caribou Coffee by Colle+McVoy turned transit shelters in Minneapolis into ovens complete with real heaters to keep the commuters warm and toasty…and to highlight Caribou’s ‘Hot n’ Wholesome’ new menu items.

Stunning.
