Huge support for Oi Beach Ball Charity Auction.

September 9th, 2009   |   Posted by

Wow! We didn’t realise how generous people can be, especially following one of the worst recessions in history. Initial support for the Oi Beach Ball Charity Auction has been amazing. We’ve set ourselves a very ambitious target of trying to raise many thousands to send 5-year-old Max Adams, who has a very rare form of cancer, on a holiday of his lifetime and lots of money for the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton Hospital, where Guernsey children with cancer or related illnesses are treated, plus the CLIC Sargent Charity. We’ve now received donations worth £20,000!..

What Max has been up to. By Jason Adams

Max had his last session of chemotherapy today and can go home in the morning. Now he will have hydration treatment for the next 48 hours. Just last week he was running around and playing and now he is very tired and not very happy.

It’s been a tough year for Max and although it is the last session of chemotherapy, we now have to wait until the 7th September for a critical scan which will show whether the chemotherapy has worked, or not…

We’d like to say a big thank you to John Litchfield at Channel Island Ceramics for coming forward and donating a £500 credit note to go towards a bathroom suite, Villeroy & Boch cutlery service, and 12 Villeroy & Boch burgundy glasses for our special charity auction. The auction is to raise money for Max Adams, who has a rare form of cancer,  and for the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton Hospital, which treats all children from Guernsey who have cancer or related illnesses.

To have such a kind donation on day one of our charity auction campaign is very encouraging. We have sent out about 50 letters to various local business people as well as 12 well-known international celebrities including Robbie Williams, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, Damien Hirst, Wayne Rooney, Gary Lineker, Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff (The Hoff), oh, and Richard Branson.

Watch this space and see who comes forward to help out with this important campaign.
