New KPMG research has revealed that UK consumers are less willing to pay for digital content than others around the world. However, Brits are more willing to accept targeted advertising on computers and mobile devices. Some of the research findings make particularly interesting reading given the current move, by some newspapers, towards paywalls, and making readers pay to view online content…..

Just came back through Guernsey airport from big presentation in Jersey and two 2-metre wide mystery boxes suspended from the ceiling have appeared! Maybe it’s the Jedi Master in hiding? Has anyone else seen them? Any ideas what’s inside?
Three new staff have joined Oi this month thanks to significant recent account wins and increased online activity by existing clients. A sign of the times, that’s for sure…

We hope so; IPA/BDO’s latest Bellwether Report claims marketing budgets are on the rise, generally indicating a more confident outlook by brands and their marketing teams. When brands spend on marketing it’s a good sign they are using this investment to fuel growth. Good news not just for the agencies who produce their work, but for the brands themselves…

Oi has won the tender to be the first independent commercial sponsor to brand one of the most iconic landmarks in Guernsey.
Our innovative submission clinched the deal, which includes installing a webcam at the top of the 32-metre mast at Guernsey’s busiest roundabout. The webcam will stream live footage across the east coast of Guernsey to Herm and Sark accessible through this website and a few others (to be announced in the near future). Oi will initially also feature a number of branded flags on the mast and then offer our clients branding opportunities in the future.

“Why do we care so much about the Creative Brief, surely it’s the creative work that makes the difference to our clients brands, business and reputations?”
The person who said this didn’t have a long or illustrious career in our industry. So why are we investing so much time in making our Creative Briefs the best they can be, and bringing over a top London agency trainer in the next few weeks to give a two-day workshop for staff and clients on producing and presenting effective briefs?

US filmmaker Dan Woolley was shooting a documentary about poverty in Haiti when he was buried under rubble during the recent earthquake. He could have died…he SHOULD have died, but he didn’t due to the help of his trusty iPhone and a first aid app called Pocket First Aid & CPR that taught him to treat his wounds and ultimately saved his life. You can read the whole amazing tale here, but it just goes to show that Apple’s incredible bit of shiny kit really is more useful than anything else you could put in your pocket.
What with it being a New Year n’ all, we thought these Top 10 apps would help keep y’all on the straight and narrow. Obviously most of you have made decisions so resolute that it’s laughable you’d be swayed from them, but…well…?…one never knows what’s going to get in ones’ way….does one?
Happy New year everybody.
