It wasn’t me: It was Tom.

Sometimes, one has to simply sit back and admit defeat…y’know? You’d like to think you’re the best thing to happen to whatever industry you’re in, but inevitably you are faced with the realisation that, well…you’re not. That’s the cool [and also the horrific] thing about working in a studio with talented people. Yes, you get to work as a team and learn from / influence each other, but you also have to put up with hard, cold facts:

‘That piece of work is great and I couldn’t have come up with it”…

I’m lucky [or unlucky depending on how you look at it] to work with some very gifted designers, people that are constantly making me say to myself through gritted teeth, “Damn…that was good.”

This month Tom did these pieces for Catherine Best to promote her Love Letters range, and as you can see they turned out amazingly well. The ads are a simple idea, beautifully executed with great attention to detail, just like the jewellery they advertise. I recall Tom asking me at the outset of the job if I had any ideas. I obviously did and I told him what they were and which ones I thought he should work up and present to the client.

Lucky for Catherine, Tom ignored me completely and came up with the ads below on his own.

Which is…great…isn’t it?
